We are seeking an Associate Director, Bioinformatics to spearhead research and development initiatives focused on early cancer detection. This role offers the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team, develop cutting-edge computational methods, and guide the creation of impactful bioinformatics tools in oncology.

Job Overview

As Associate Director, Bioinformatics, you will drive the development of novel computational and machine learning approaches for analyzing complex genomic datasets. You will collaborate cross-functionally to shape product strategies, oversee scientific and technical contributors, and contribute to Natera’s mission of improving disease management through advanced genomics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic R&D projects focused on early cancer detection using bioinformatics.
  • Develop and implement innovative computational algorithms and machine learning models.
  • Oversee the analysis of large-scale, complex genomic datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide product development.
  • Mentor and manage scientific and technical team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Cancer Biology, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of bioinformatics experience with leadership or project ownership roles.
  • Proven track record in developing impactful bioinformatics tools in oncology or molecular diagnostics.
  • Expertise in algorithm development, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
  • Deep understanding of cancer biology, genomics, and biomarker discovery.
  • Experience with public genomic databases such as TCGA, COSMIC, or OncoKB.
  • Strong programming skills in Python; proficiency in R is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Linux command-line tools, scripting, and cloud or HPC environments.
  • Experience with relational databases and large-scale data management.
