The Senior Radiation Effects Engineer will coordinate and oversee proton beam and heavy ion tests for avionics, guiding radiation effects and survivability requirements for spacecraft. This role involves tailoring industry standards for Vast spacecraft and missions, ensuring that the Radiation Effects team meets deadlines and objectives while fostering interdisciplinary relationships and a safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate proton beam and heavy ion tests for avionics.
  • Guide radiation effects and survivability requirements for spacecraft.
  • Derive and distribute in-space environmental requirements.
  • Tailor industry standards like EEE-INST-002 and NASA 8739.11.
  • Ensure deadlines and objectives are met by the Radiation Effects team.
  • Foster interdisciplinary relationships and promote a safety culture.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or physics.
  • 5+ years of experience in Radiation Effects.
  • MS/PhD in EE, physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with FASTRAD shielding analysis.
  • Proficiency in SPENVIS and OMERE dose analysis/modeling.
  • Experience with in-space charging for spacecraft.
  • Development skills in Matlab and Python.
  • Electronics design experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
