Technical Revenue Accounting Director

The Director of Technical Revenue Accounting will own and evolve ASC 606 revenue policies specifically tailored for SaaS and usage-based models. This role involves leading technical accounting research, authoring memos, policies, and playbooks, and providing insights on complex enterprise contracts in collaboration with Sales, Deal Desk, and Legal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve ASC 606 revenue policies for SaaS and usage-based models.
• Lead technical accounting research and author necessary documentation.
• Review complex enterprise contracts and provide strategic advice to internal stakeholders.
• Define revenue recognition for new products, including performance obligations and SSP.
• Translate complex accounting guidance into practical processes for cross-functional teams.
• Partner with auditors to support revenue positions and ensure SOX controls are met.

Requirements & Qualifications

• CPA certification with over 12 years of experience in ASC 606 technical revenue accounting.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SaaS revenue models, including SSP and variable consideration.
• Proven ability to evaluate complex contracts and determine appropriate revenue treatment.
• Track record of influencing and defending accounting positions with auditors.
• Experience translating complex accounting concepts into clear guidance for non-accounting audiences.
• Public accounting background is a plus; in-house SaaS/tech experience is a bonus.
