Backend Developer, SDE1

Join Sun King’s EasyBuy technology team as a Backend Developer (SDE1) to help improve the operations of field teams delivering solar energy solutions across Africa and Asia. As part of a remote-first, collaborative environment, you will design and develop robust backend applications, support integration with existing tools, and contribute to impactful products that bring reliable electricity to underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend applications and systems based on product requirements and wireframes.
• Create logical and physical data models to support application needs.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, bugs, and operational issues.
• Perform thorough unit testing to ensure code reliability and robustness.
• Integrate with internal and external tools, including ticketing and communication software.
• Write reusable, maintainable code adhering to DRY principles.
• Collaborate closely with team members and product managers to deliver high-quality solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in backend development.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, data structures, and algorithms.
• Expertise in object-oriented programming (OOPS) and Core Java.
• Proficiency in SQL, MySQL, or similar database management systems.
• Experience with web services integration (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML).
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs for mobile app backend integration.
• Preferred experience with version control systems like Git.
• Knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (Spring, Hibernate) is a plus.
• Ability to work remotely in a multicultural, collaborative environment.
