Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu and a leader in open-source software, is seeking an experienced GitOps Engineering Manager to drive world-class DevOps and GitOps practices. This remote position, based in APAC or EMEA, offers an opportunity to lead distributed teams, shape large-scale infrastructure automation, and deliver managed services for global enterprise customers. You will combine technical expertise in Linux and operations with people leadership, process management, and a passion for open source innovation.

Job Overview

This role blends software engineering, operations management, and team leadership to pioneer new approaches in infrastructure automation. You will work across the full stack, from bare metal to Kubernetes, and support Canonical's mission to elevate cloud-native and model-driven operations globally.

Key Responsibilities

Lead agile DevOps practices and mentor a high-performance team
Represent the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal groups
Organize, coordinate, and drive internal engineering projects
Implement structured processes to ensure quality and timely deliverables
Ensure service level agreements are met for global customer deployments

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience managing DevOps teams for SaaS or similar offerings
Expertise in Linux system administration and operations
Strong background in infrastructure as code and automation
Experience with agile software development methodologies
Technical aptitude for complex distributed systems and cloud technologies
Exceptional academic track record
Ability to work and manage distributed teams remotely
Understanding of testing methodologies and code quality
Willingness to travel twice yearly for company events
