iOS Engineer, ChatGPT Mobile Infrastructure

Job Overview

As an iOS Engineer for ChatGPT Mobile Infrastructure, you will be responsible for building Swift frameworks used across apps and platforms to enhance performance and reliability. This role involves collaborating with product teams, developing internal tooling and automation, and tackling platform problems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Swift frameworks for caching, state, and observability.
• Improve performance metrics such as startup time, responsiveness, memory usage, and battery efficiency by thorough profiling.
• Enhance reliability by reducing crashes, optimizing release processes, and embedding with product teams to understand their needs.
• Develop internal tooling and automation using Bazel, CI, testing, and guardrails to improve velocity.
• Translate real-world constraints into simple APIs and safe defaults for developers to use.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Strong iOS fundamentals including Swift, concurrency, networking, Xcode, and UIKit/SwiftUI.
• Ability to handle platform problems related to frameworks, architecture, performance, and tooling.
• Demonstrated ownership mentality by identifying risks, driving projects to completion, and iterating rapidly.
• Proficiency in measuring impact through metrics, running experiments, and iterating based on data.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to align interfaces and drive cross-team execution.
