Job Overview

Seeking a Lead Electrical Motor Design Engineer to take charge of system-level architecture for 1MW, 30krpm alternators and primary loop motors. The ideal candidate will lead the electromagnetic design of permanent-magnet machines for Brayton-cycle power systems and set the technical vision for the project.

Responsibilities
  • Own system-level architecture for high-power alternators and motors
  • Lead electromagnetic design of permanent-magnet machines
  • Mentor a team of engineers and guide structural, thermal, and system integration
  • Lead design reviews and set best practices for modeling and validation
  • Make topology decisions, ensure insulation, cooling, and manufacturability
Requirements & Qualifications
  • B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with specialization in electric machines
  • 5+ years designing high-voltage, high-power electric motors and/or generators
  • Proficiency with electromagnetic analysis tools (Ansys Motor-CAD, Maxwell, or equivalent)
  • Experience with structural and thermal analysis of high-speed rotating machinery
  • Deep understanding of motor–inverter interactions and power electronics integration
