Mercury is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our Product team. This full-time, remote opportunity is open to candidates across Canada and the United States. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in building and enhancing our banking platform designed specifically for startups.

Job Overview

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems for Mercury’s banking platform.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful product features.
Contribute to architectural decisions to ensure high performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Implement robust backend services and APIs.
Optimize system performance and scalability.
Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
Collaborate in product planning and feature development.
Ensure security and compliance within the platform.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Extensive experience in backend engineering and API development.
Proficiency in modern backend technologies (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Node.js).
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and distributed systems.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
