The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join the Reader Experience team and help shape the future of Wikipedia’s reading experience for over a billion users worldwide. This remote-first role offers the unique opportunity to lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with a global community, and innovate on foundational web experiences to deepen engagement and accessibility for Wikipedia's diverse readership.

Job Overview

As a Senior Product Manager, you will drive the ideation, development, and scaling of new features and improvements across Wikipedia’s desktop and mobile platforms. You will work closely with designers, engineers, volunteers, and stakeholders to refine navigation, layout, and accessibility, while fostering deeper connections between readers and the platform. This role requires global collaboration and a strong commitment to Wikimedia’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Reader Experience team to design and deliver features that enhance content discovery and user engagement.
Own and improve the Wikipedia reading experience, including skins and accessibility options like dark mode.
Engage with volunteer communities for feedback and collaborative planning.
Apply standardized measurement practices, such as A/B testing and user research, while innovating within a privacy-sensitive environment.
Maintain and communicate progress through roadmaps, specifications, and release plans.
Stay informed on industry trends, knowledge-seeking behaviors, and advancements in AI.
Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, and Legal teams on high-impact projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience, with 3+ years as a product manager in consumer-facing software teams.
Proven track record building products for global audiences on mobile and desktop platforms.
Strong understanding of design principles and close collaboration with design teams.
Experience with A/B testing, user research, and data-driven decision making.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to align multiple senior stakeholders and manage complex projects.
Experience working with globally distributed, remote teams.
Understanding of the knowledge-sharing landscape and modern learning trends.
Alignment with Wikimedia’s mission, values, and inclusive culture.
