Join Healthie as a Staff API Engineer and play a pivotal role in designing and scaling industry-leading GraphQL APIs for a modern healthcare platform. This fully remote, US-based position empowers you to influence API architecture and developer experience for a product that serves billions of requests. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and help shape the technical direction of Healthie's platform.

Key Responsibilities

Design and scale robust, high-performance GraphQL APIs to support billions of requests.
Champion API architecture and define standards developers enjoy working with.
Develop and refine SDKs and developer tools to accelerate feature delivery.
Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to shape the API roadmap and incorporate developer feedback.
Mentor engineers, set technical direction, and drive cross-team technical strategy.
Enhance observability and tooling for a resilient and scalable API ecosystem.
Elevate the developer experience, ensuring clarity from schema design to error messages.

Required Skills & Qualifications

8+ years of backend or full-stack development experience, with deep GraphQL expertise.
Proven track record of designing and scaling APIs for large-scale applications.
Experience building developer tools and SDKs (TypeScript, Python, Ruby, or similar).
Strong understanding of authentication, pagination, error handling, observability, and versioning at scale.
Leadership experience in mentoring and setting technical direction.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Bonus: Experience with Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, or event-driven architectures.
