Join Canonical's dynamic remote team as a Technical Author and help set new standards of excellence in technical documentation across engineering, business operations, and open-source communities. With multiple roles and seniority levels available, you’ll collaborate with experts, influence product development, and contribute to documentation practice as a key discipline within the organization. Key Responsibilities

Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation for software, products, and internal operations.
Lead and support documentation efforts within your team, driving best practices and standards.
Engage with user and open-source communities to ensure documentation meets real-world needs.
Collaborate with peers to advance documentation theory and practice at Canonical.
Influence product and service development through expert technical communication and feedback.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven excellence in technical communication and documentation.
Technical background: programmer’s mindset or programming experience.
Experience with Linux, command line, Git, and documentation markup languages (e.g., reStructuredText, MyST).
Strong collaborative and communication skills.
Community engagement experience, especially in open-source contexts.
BSc/BA degree or equivalent professional experience.
Technical curiosity and deep interest in software technology.
Ability to support and encourage community documentation contributions.
Understanding of user experience, interaction, or visual design is a plus.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally twice a year for team events.
