Job Overview

As a Site Reliability Engineering Manager, you will oversee the design, automation, and management of mission-critical systems, ensuring reliability and scalability for Canonical's information systems. You will mentor engineers, lead agile DevOps practices, and represent the IS team to stakeholders, playing a pivotal role in pioneering infrastructure as code and model-driven operations. This role combines engineering expertise, operational excellence, and impactful leadership in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a remote team of engineers to deliver high-quality managed services.
Drive the adoption of agile DevOps practices and infrastructure as code.
Organize, coordinate, and manage internal projects, ensuring on-time delivery of milestones and priorities.
Represent the Information Systems team to internal and external stakeholders.
Track and improve team health indicators, implementing structured engineering and operations processes.
Ensure service level agreements are met for global customer deployments.
Contribute to Canonical’s open-source automation initiatives for enterprise operations.
Participate in global company events and collaborate with distributed teams across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Expertise in Linux system administration, preferably Ubuntu.
Proven experience managing DevOps teams in SaaS or similar environments.
Strong background in infrastructure as code and cloud-native technologies.
Technical aptitude for complex distributed systems and cloud architectures.
Experience with agile software development methodologies.
Exceptional academic record from both high school and university.
Ability to manage and mentor distributed, remote teams effectively.
Understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
