As a not-for-profit organization, we prioritize the freedom of speech of all our users. Our dedicated team of volunteers is committed to ensuring that our users have access to a stable and reliable chat service.
Recent News and Updates As of April 8, 2020, we have transitioned to free Let's Encrypt certificates. If you experience any issues as a result of this change, please let us know. Also, we are testing KiwiIRC, a new web-based IRC client. We encourage you to give it a try and let us know your feedback. We are thrilled to announce that we now offer qwebirc, a web-based IRC client that is free of ads and runs directly on our servers.
Qwebirc also supports encryption and login-on-connect, making it a more secure option for chatting on AfterNET. We invite you to test it out and let us know your thoughts. If you'd like to create a custom chat link for your website or embed the chat window directly, qwebirc makes it easy to do so. Simply click on the logo in the top left corner of the qwebirc interface and select "Add webchat to your site" to get started.
Joining AfterNET To start chatting on AfterNET, simply download and install an IRC program of your choice or use a web-based IRC client. As IRC is an open standard, there are many different IRC programs available. Once your IRC program is installed, configure it to connect to irc.afternet.org.
Here are some of our preferred IRC programs: - Windows: mIRC ($20), HexChat, KVIrc, and ChatZilla - Mac OS X: Textual ($7.99), KVIrc, and LimeChat - Linux: HexChat, KVIrc, ChatZilla, Konversation, and irssi Alternatively, you can use one of our web-based IRC clients: AfterNET qwebirc or AfterNET KiwiIRC. If you're new to IRC, we recommend checking out our Help channel or reading our guide on the various connection options available.
About Our Network Our network consists of a high-speed network of IRC servers located around the globe, prioritizing service and network stability. On average, we have around 800 people connected to our network at any given time, and we are proud to have a loyal user base. Our main channel is #AfterNET, and our help channel is #Help. We offer username and channel registrations via our AuthServ and X3 service bots. Thank you for choosing AfterNET as your go-to chat network.
