The Future of Work Is Remote

Reports show that as of 2014, only 2 percent of the companies had become fully remote companies with no headquarters, which has risen to 18 percent by the year 2020.

Do You Know?

WordPress is the 15th most trafficked website in the world and yet thrives successfully with a 100% Remote Workforce. Shocking? Yes it is! WordPress is run by 100% distributed teams meaning everyone works from home, or from any place they wish.

The premise is whether organizations should still go through long cycles of hiring talent, vendors, ramp up, and ramp down.

Isn’t Getting On-Demand Talent a Better Choice?

Today organizations are dealing with critical talent shortage issues. Project deadlines are putting enormous pressure on technical teams and the HR departments to hire the right talent in a short span of time.

They reach out to tens and hundreds of professionals for every position and have them undergo long scrutiny process, multiple interviews, and yet have no luck in finding the right talent. This process results in finding someone who may not match the exact needs of the organization.

With technology making it easier to communicate and collaborate, it is about time that organizations and professionals encourage the idea of remote working to find the right person for the right job.

The idea of remote working has a comprehensive and flexible spectrum. From saving office expenses to lessened commuting costs to saving time, there are several advantages that remote working brings along.

Studies show that more than 4.3 million people all across the United States prefer working from home almost half of the year.

A recent study of the US Patent and Trade office workers by Harvard Business Review has revealed that remote working has increased the productivity of the employees by 10.4 percent.

What Is a Remote Job?

Ever since the advent of a consistent and reliable broadband connection, people have shown preference in working remotely over working in office spaces. There has been a significant upward rising trend for remote workers since then.

The growing popularity of remote work is based on the benefits that it has to offer to both the employer and the employee.

Other than a physical separation from the dreaded cubicles, remote working has advantages like flexible hours and saving money and time on the commute. A study has revealed that the trend of commuting has overturned after people have readily started to accept remote working solutions.

It has been estimated that by 2025, more than 70 percent of the working force will be working at least five days remotely in a month.

Fully Remote Operations and Recruitment - Trends & Statistics 2020

Companies are taking to become fully remote operations. Almost 20 percent of the workers in the United States have said in a survey that they turn down an opportunity that does not allow flexible working.

Reports also show that as of 2014, only 2 percent of the companies had become fully remote companies with no headquarters, which has risen to 16 percent by the year 2018.

The recruitment and HR section of companies will find a boost in talent finding from the vast pool of endowed remote workers from across the world. It will no longer be limited to office space and face-to-face interaction.

The teams will be able to find the perfect match for a position from premium-quality employees who have a higher potential and productivity.

Remote working improves the diversity of choice, thus avoiding the mono-culture in office spaces. Especially during problem-solving situations, diversity in the working force allows individuals to have different perspectives. They are exposed to various people of varied experiences, which proves to be extremely helpful.

The Gallup State of the American Workplace shows that the percentage of employees working fully remote has gone up to 22 percent as compared to 15 percent in 2015.

This movement has opened up the possibility to work even for people who have restrictions to commute, like those with medical conditions and also parents looking after their children at home.

The Gallup survey has further shown that by 2016, workers have reported working remotely and from outside office spaces almost 80 percent of the time than the 24 percent in 2012.

Future of Jobs is Remote?

Statistics show that over 63 percent of the US working population believes that the eight-hour workday idea will soon become obsolete.

We are progressing to a world that encourages and teaches the value of remote working. Over 49 percent of the US employers allow employees to work at their feasible and flexible hours.

A survey asking, “Does anyone work fully remote in your organization?” has received 69 percent positive answers from respondents.

Now that technology lets us communicate faster and in various ways, collaborating has never been easier. The most traditional workspaces have also started realizing and implementing remote work culture. So much so that the VR technology lets you operate in a virtual office.

Flexibility and work-life balance are a vital part of regular working arrangements which have been eased manifold with the remote working movement. This maintains a healthy mental and stress standard, which in turn improves the quality of work.

In a FlexJobs survey in 2018, it shows that more than 97 percent of the respondents have an improved quality of work and life.
