Join Apollo as a Staff Backend Engineer and lead the technical direction of mission-critical initiatives across multiple teams and systems. You will architect robust, scalable backend solutions, mentor engineers, and drive engineering excellence to deliver impactful products. Key Responsibilities

Architect and build scalable, high-availability systems for 24/7 mission-critical workflows.
Own and deliver multi-tier, high-volume applications prioritizing performance, accessibility, and resilience.
Drive engineering best practices, including code reviews, test coverage, monitoring, and observability.
Provide technical leadership for cross-functional teams, guiding architecture and execution.
Mentor and sponsor engineers to foster growth and deepen engineering culture.
Lead large-scale, cross-team projects from concept to production.
Deliver clear, constructive feedback through structured reviews and one-on-one sessions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on experience building and scaling backend systems in production.
Expertise in designing features for performance, reliability, and scalability.
Strong product intuition and ability to balance technical scope with MVP delivery.
Proficiency with message queues, background jobs, and distributed system patterns.
Familiarity with observability tools such as GCP Logging, Prometheus, and NewRelic.
Experience leveraging AI tools for code generation, debugging, and automation.
Knowledge of LLM architecture, pipelines, or applied AI tooling is highly desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
Proficiency in general-purpose programming languages (Java, Python, Ruby, Go).
Experience integrating with third-party APIs, handling rate limits and failure gracefully.
