Telco Cloud Engineer Role

Join Canonical as a Telco Cloud Engineer and play a pivotal role in transforming the telecommunications industry with open-source and cloud technologies. As part of a remote-first, global team, you will design, implement, and support advanced cloud and networking solutions for leading communications service providers. This hands-on position offers the opportunity to drive innovation in 5G, OpenRAN, and NFVi environments, while collaborating closely with customers and internal teams to deliver high-quality, automated infrastructure solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement telco-grade open source private and micro cloud solutions.
• Lead customers through the architecture and deployment of OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software-defined networking.
• Provide technical pre-sales consulting and match customer requirements with advanced capabilities in VNF/CNF/NFVi/NFVO/VNFM/VIM/MEC domains.
• Automate deployments using Infrastructure as Code techniques (Terraform, scripting, Juju charms).
• Investigate, report, and resolve software defects during customer engagements.
• Shape product roadmaps by sharing insights from customer projects and driving improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Intermediate Python software development experience.
• Proficiency with Terraform and automation scripting.
• Thorough understanding of telco NFVi, VIM, NFVO, VNFM, and MEC concepts.
• Technical knowledge of key telco technologies (CPU Pinning, NUMA, SRIOV, DPDK, etc.).
• Working experience with Linux, OpenStack, and Kubernetes networking.
• Familiarity with architectures and infrastructure for MNOs and CSPs.
• Ability to lead complex projects from inception to delivery.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% for customer and company events.
• Passion for open-source technology and continuous automation improvements.
