As a Sr. Mobile Software Developer (React Native), you will drive the advancement of the Department of Veterans Affairs' Veteran Appointments and Check-in Experience. This cross-platform mobile solution empowers Veterans to manage healthcare appointments, integrating advanced EHR back-ends, FHIR services, secure authentication, and analytics. You will contribute to impactful government digital services, leveraging AI-assisted engineering and collaborating within a dynamic Agile team dedicated to accessibility, security, and user-centered value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain React Native components, native modules, and TypeScript shared libraries for cross-platform mobile applications.
  • Utilize AI-powered IDEs (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) to analyze, develop, test, and debug code responsibly.
  • Integrate mobile solutions with GraphQL/REST/FHIR APIs and manage secure authentication flows.
  • Implement DevSecOps and CI/CD best practices, including automated testing, feature flags, and blue/green deployments.
  • Collaborate with designers and researchers to ensure usability, accessibility (Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA), and compliance with VA and security standards.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, architecture spikes, and provide production support as needed.
  • Support recruitment, hiring, and engineering practice development within the organization.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in React Native (Android & iOS) using TypeScript.
  • Expertise in integrating apps with complex backend APIs (REST, GraphQL, FHIR) and handling authentication (OAuth2, SSO, SAML).
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for software development and testing.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins), and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
  • Strong commitment to accessibility, security compliance, and inclusive design.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills in multi-disciplinary Agile teams.
  • U.S. Citizenship, Green Card, or EAD required; ability to meet government contract requirements.
  • Interest in or experience with healthcare, VA, or government digital services is a plus.
