Job Overview

As a key member of the Data Engineering & Analytics team, you will design, develop, and operationalize scalable big data pipelines and analytics capabilities. You will leverage your expertise to solve complex business challenges, support data-driven decision-making, and contribute to the definition and execution of Abbott's Big Data Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain big data pipelines and solutions in the cloud to handle complex datasets securely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and scientists to solve business problems using data engineering, data science, and machine learning approaches.
  • Drive the implementation of IT solutions and help define Big Data Strategy for the organization.
  • Operationalize data science solutions and uncover customer, product, and operational insights.
  • Support building scalable, highly available, and secure software solutions for big data initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of recent experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or Big Data environments.
  • Proficiency with Databricks and/or Spark; experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (S3, Redshift, Lambda, DynamoDB).
  • Strong software development skills in Python, PySpark, Kafka, or Go, and a willingness to learn new languages as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to process and integrate large structured and unstructured datasets from multiple sources.
  • Expertise in data cleaning, wrangling, visualization, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with databases, BI applications, data quality assurance, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a geographically distributed, asynchronous team in a fast-paced environment.
